REVIEW: Sig Sauer P320 Air Pistol

This 30 shot repeater debuted at SHOT Show 2018, and Sig Sauer has once again changed the game for CO2 air pistols. The SIG Sauer P320 is built with a sturdy metal slide against a polymer frame, this Sig's claim to fame is its 30 round capacity. The SIG Sauer P320 is the first pistol of its kind, this belt-fed semi-auto is capable of firing both .177 pellets and BBs as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Featuring realistic blowback, and fueled by a 12 gram CO2 cartridge held in the grip, you can propel your ammo choice at up to 450fps (depending on ammo weight/composition). With this many shots The SIG Sauer P320 air pistol is great for hours of plinking fun.
Recently selected by the US Army to replace the Beretta M9, The SIG Sauer P320 pistol is destined to see action overseas for years to come as the standard Army issue sidearm. The replica SIG Sauer P320 air pistol has the exact same trigger pull as the real gun for a real feel, ideal for owners or fans of the real pistol, but less costly to shoot.
Shooters can mount a flashlight or laser sight to the Weaver accessory rail and keep their target in sight. If you like attention to detail with more shots with less reloads, this is the air pistol you've been waiting for and is available in black or coyote tan.

If you own a real P320, YOU NEED THIS!
By EricXon July 11, 2018
If you own a full-sized P320 then this is THE accessory to have for training, especially if you are on a budget or have limited access to a range.
A training weapon is one who should replicate the feel and firing of the actual weapon but in a condition that may not allow the use of the actual weapon. This said, this pellet gun from SIG fills the role as best as a .177 cal CO2 powered training weapon can.
The accuracy is realistic (within 30ft), the feel perfect and the action about as realistic as an airgun can replicate.
Accuracy is amazing within 30ft... I recommend using half-sized targets to what you normally use at 90-120ft with the real thing. If you use these, then this will be a perfect training tool. I found 6-8" party balloons from the dollar store to be great for a substitute 12-18" target at the 15-30ft range and this pistol produces adequate power to pop those balloons at distance with each shot (depending on pellet profile).
The feel of this is PERFECT! It replicates all the nuances of the full-sized, medium contour grip-frame perfectly. I wish SIG would do these with the wide grip-frame like that on my real weapon but this works just as good for training. All the familiars are there though some of the controls are different - most notably the slide release that is converted to a manual safety in the airgun version.
In addition to the feel of the gun itself is the kick when you fire it... I would equate to that of a .22 conversion or more accurately, the SIG Mosquito. It adds a bit of realism to training with some semi-violent recoil. The trigger leaves a little to be desired but is like the worst stock P320 trigger. The creep and pull is more than the amazingly smooth and light trigger of the real thing but when doing speed or high-pressure drills it is close enough. After all, this is a training weapon and may give you a "worse case scenario" on performance. Honestly, it's not that far off the real trigger in feel... maybe more like a stock S&W M&P than a P320 but it has the feel of the real thing.nonetheless.
Weight is almost like the real thing... I haven't had the chance to weigh each but it is close.. enough to replicate a "realistic feel" nonetheless. This isn't some high-performance target pistol - it is meant to replicate the real P320 and it does that sufficiently. It doesn't have the power to take small game (although it does have enough power to take small rodents like mice) but the purpose for this airgun is for target practice and training with a replica of a real firearm.
For what it is, a .177cal CO2 powered replica of a real handgun, it is perfection. I wish SIG would consider a compact version of this as that would be easy to do with a magazine mod so that those of us with the compact version of the P320 might enjoy the benefits of a cost-effective training tool. Until then, this functions just fine and will undoubtedly help you become a better shot.
5-stars because of the fit, weight and feel, trigger action, accuracy and feel when shooting as well as usefulness.

If you own a real P320, YOU NEED THIS!

This is an amazing repli-gun. I come from a rural area, but now live in an urban area, and have found that I just don't feel comfortable paying for range time when I'm used to just heading away from the house to get some practice in. This pellet gun gives a realistic feel, and provides more accuracy than my hand, so it's great for training in the backyard in between range sessions. Great for getting down the details for an accurate quick-draw.

Very happy with it.

Performs well. Had a few misfires and jams out of 10 clips I've fired so far. Will try a different ammo. Currently using Crosman Destroyer. Happy with the accuracy.
History behind the firearm that inspired the SIG Sauer P320 Air Pistol
The SIG Sauer P320 is a semi-automatic pistol made by SIG Sauer of Exeter, New Hampshire and SIG Sauer of Eckernfrde, Germany. The SIG Sauer P320 can be chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. The P320 chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum was introduced in the North American market on January 15, 2014 followed by the .45 ACP compact model at the SHOT Show in January 2015. The P320 is a further development of the SIG Sauer P250 utilizing a striker-fired mechanism in lieu of a double action only hammer system.
Design Details
Like other SIG Sauer pistols, the P320 pistol is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. It uses the typical SIG Sauer cam-operated barrel, which locks into the ejection port on the slide.
A key feature of the pistol is its modular design. The main module of the P320 is an internal stainless steel frame fire control unit, which consists of the integrated fire control group (trigger, and all necessary linkage and springs), ambidextrous slide release (one on each side of the pistol), ejector and four slide rails.
This steel receiver unit is used in every P320 grip module, top end, and chambering combination and is inserted into the grip frame module and held in place by the axis pin of the disassembly lever. The firearm's serial number is on the fire control unit instead of the grip module.
The fire control unit allows the operator to interchange differently-sized slide assembly or top end modules and polymer grip frame modules and trigger shoes and (limited) chambering conversions to adapt the gun to the individual user and address different needs.
The P320 was designed to be ambidextrous in handling, sporting an ambidextrous slide catch lever and user reversible magazine catch. All other operating controls are designed so they can be operated from either side. The firearm can be field stripped with no tools. Additionally, the firearm can also be field stripped without depressing the trigger, an additional safety feature to prevent negligent discharge of the weapon.
The full-size, carry and compact grip modules feature an integral Picatinny rail mounting-bracket at the lower forward edge of the module to allow the mounting of laser sights, tactical lights, and other accessories.
US Army's replacement for the Beretta M9
On January 19, 2018, it was announced that the SIG Sauer P320 MHS variant had won the United States Military's Modular Handgun System trials. The P320 will be known as the M17 in U.S. Military service. Though the pistol will remain chambered in 9x19mm rather than a larger caliber, the contract allows the Army and other services to procure Sig Sauer's proposed XM1152 Full Metal Jacket and XM1153 Special Purpose ammunition. The ammunition chosen to go with the pistol is a "Winchester jacketed hollow point" round.
In May 2018, the Army announced that the first unit that will receive the M17 would be the 101st Airborne Division by the end of the year. At the same time, the rest of the U.S. Armed Forces revealed they also intend to acquire the handgun, making it the standard sidearm for the entire U.S. military. The services plan to procure up to 421,000 weapons in total; 195,000 for the Army, 130,000 for the Air Force, 61,000 for the Navy (XM18 compact version only), and 35,000 for the Marines.
