REVIEW: Umarex Colt M45A1 CQBP Air Pistol

This 177 caliber air pistol with blowback action is a variation of the 1911 Rail Gun that's enlisted by the U.S. Marine Corps. The Colt M45A1 CQBP Air Pistol (Close Quarter Battle Pistol) by Umarex has a drop-free airgun magazine with a capacity of 19 rounds. Steel BBs are recommended for flawless function. They travel out of the smooth, metal barrel at a speed of 400 feet per second. The left grip plate removes for the loading of a 12 gram CO2 capsule and the mainspring slides out of the bottom of the grip frame to reveal a hex key for piercing the CO2 cartridge.
Like the Colt M45A1 CQBP issued to Marines as well as the commercial version, the Umarex Colt M45A1 CQBP features the flat, desert-tan-color on a metal slide. The frame is a polycarbonate substrate with black poly grips. You'll also notice the under-barrel Picatinny rail, 3-dot sights of which the rear is adjustable for windage, flat serrated mainspring with lanyard loop, enhanced Commander-style hammer, long, solid trigger, and ambidextrous safety lock.
For those familiar with the Colt M1911A1, physical handling of the Umarex Colt M45A1 CQBP Air Pistol is very similar. The airgun is manufactured to dimensional spec so that it fits duty holsters. The trigger pull comes in at 4.25 pounds.

great looking bb gun
By rob horrocks
great looking bb gun, good design for co2 housing and alan wrench. The trigger is where this gun falls short. It has a huge take up and it takes some force to get it to fire. It does have a good weight to it. obviously not a real firearms, but the trigger makes it hard for practicing with the 1911 platform.
History behind the firearm that inspired the Umarex M45 CQBP Air Pistol
More than 100 years ago, the Colt 1911 was chosen as the official sidearm for America’s Armed Forces. Today, a Colt 1911 is once again proudly serving at the side of our country’s military. After a rigorous selection process, the United States Marine Corps selected the M45A1 Colt Rail Gun as their Close Quarters Battle Pistol (CQBP). This marks the first time since the end of World War II that a Colt 1911 is being use by our US military. The M45A1 is based on the original M1911 design by John Browning, and has been the standard-issue side arm for the Force Recon Element of the United States Marine Corps' Marine Expeditionary Units since 1985.
Specifications
What makes the M45A1 stand out is its brown Decobond coated Stainless Steel Receiver and Slide, Novak 3 Dot Night Sights and Flat, Serrated Mainspring Housing with Lanyard Loop. The pistol also features an Enhanced Hammer, Colt Tactical Ambidextrous Safety Lock, and a 5†National Match Barrel. The trigger-pull weight is specified at between 4.5 and 5.0 pounds-force (20 and 22 newtons).
The pistol's components are hand-fitted and are not interchangeable. The last four digits of the weapon's serial number are stamped on the top of the barrel, on the right-side of slide assembly, inside of the beavertail grip safety, on each side of the ambidextrous thumb safety, and on the inside face of the mainspring housing group.
Colt M45 CQBP (Close Quarter Battle Pistol)
The improved M45A1 CQBP features several changes to the original M1911A1 design. One feature is the dual recoil spring system that spreads out the recoil force of the .45 ACP round by lowering the peak force of the recoil pulse. It also has 3-dot tritium night sights, a 5-inch national match barrel, ambidextrous safety, picatinny rail, and a desert tan finish. The trigger pull comes in at 4.25 pounds. The overall weight of this airgun is 1.75 pounds.
