REVIEW: Beretta PX4 Storm (Blowback) Air Pistol

The Umarex PX4 Storm Blowback air pistol is a replica of the Beretta PX4 Storm firearm. This 16-shot repeater will have you shooting as fast as you can pull the trigger. There's an 8-shot rotary clip on one end of the stick magazine and another one at the other end. After you're done shooting the first clip, flip the magazine for the rest of the shots. Since it shoots BBs or pellets, you'll have more flexibility with ammo choice. A 12-gram CO2 is easily loaded into the grip and gives you plenty of shots before you need a refill.

Just like the handgun it copies, the Beretta PX4 Storm air pistol has real blowback action, giving you the feeling of power that most air guns only hope to achieve. Shooters can mount a flashlight or laser sight to the Weaver accessory rail and keep their target in sight. If you like attention to detail with more shots with less reloads, this is the air pistol you've been waiting for.

5This thing is fantastic! it shoots great
By jeffrey d eisnaugle
This thing is fantastic! it shoots great, feels great, and is very realistic. The weight of the gun is nice and feels like your shooting a real gun..
I read the reviews about the clip ejecting on its own and that concerned me a little, but with all the positive reviews I decided to go for it.
I quickly found that I had that issue, however I ordered a second clip when I bought the gun, and its a good thing I did! I switched out the clip with the one I ordered separately and have fired over a hundred plus rounds of pellets and around 50 rounds of b.b.s AND NOT ONE MISFIRE OR CLIP EJECTION! The issue appears to be in the clip. So make sure to order a extra clip, and for around $10 why wouldn't you..... you are going to want to shoot as many rounds out of this gun as possible....shooting this pellet gun is amazingly fun with the blowback that kicks your wrist back!

5Excellent Shooter
By Manuel Reyna
This gun is a fantastic buy. I bought mine a couple weeks ago and have shot 700 rounds. Once I figured out which pellets it liked I am able to
empty a clip in a two inch target at 10 yards.. This is a fantastic shooter. It's weight and blowback action makes it feel like a real gun and after
each shot you have to realign sights on target to shoot, makes for excellent practice. The only minor issue is the magazine release button, A slight
touch and the magazine pops out, so don't touch it while shooting. My gun like the Crosman Destroyers 7.4 grain and the RWS 7 grain. So I shoot
2 clips with the Destroyers first then 2 clips with the 7 grain. This keep the velocity close to the same for all shots so my aim point remains consistent. I don't believe there is anything better for the money. Definitely recommend purchase.
Note: it shoots the Crosman Field points extremely well but they do shoot a little high, I tried them out at 15 and 20 yards works great. Easy to hit
soda cans at 20 yards with them. 15 Yards is excellent just gotta aim a little lower. At 10 yards you have to aim at bottom of the can.
This is now my favorite target pellet pistol.

2Good gun, bad customer support.
By Stormsetter
This is an updated review:

After about 1250 rounds, the magazine started dropping out of alignment after each shot. I found that the magazine catch on the inside of the magazine release button had worn down. I wrote the manufacturer requesting a new magazine release assembly and was told I could return the entire gun and have it repaired as it was still under warranty.

I then received a call from the manufacturer stating that they had received the gun and wanted to charge me to repair the release assembly, as well as a bad valve, citing that I had over-lubricated the gun and it was not due to any defect.

I had simply followed the instructions by lightly lubricating the moving parts after 1000 rounds as well as placing a small drop of lubricant on each new CO2 cartridge that I loaded. I had also not experienced any issue other than the magazine catch: I did not return it for valve issues, there were none.

While I liked this gun very much, I believe the plastic used to cast the magazine catch was too soft, allowing it to wear down too quickly. Instead of replacing a simple part, customer service wanted to charge me to repair something that was not broken when I shipped it back as well as blame me for the defect when I followed their maintenance instructions.

History behind the firearm that inspired the Beretta Px4 Storm Air Pistol

The Beretta Px4 Storm is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Beretta of Italy and intended for personal defense and law enforcement use. The Px4 uses the same short-recoil, rotating barrel action as the Beretta 8000 models and uses the same trigger and safety system as the M9/92/96 series, while being completely different in design from either. Light-weight polymer construction with steel inserts, a modular trigger group, fully enclosing slide, Picatinny rail, and changeable backstrap options for the grip are a radical departure from previous Beretta designs.

Design details

Unlike the later generation Beretta 92/96/M9 series, the Px4's trigger guard is rounded for better concealed carry. The takedown pin of earlier models is replaced by a spring-loaded bar, accessed via frame recesses on both sides, which must be grasped and pulled down simultaneously to release the slide. The slide spring is doubly captive, being inserted approximately an inch into the transfer block at one end and a receiving hole in the front of the slide at the other. It is a self-contained assembly, completely captured by the polymer guide. The magazine holds the top round directly behind the barrel's breech end so only a slight feed ramp is needed.

This allows the barrel to fully support the case. The 6-R rifling of the barrel generates counter-clockwise torque which is harnessed by the locking system to reduce the amount of pressure required from the rotating barrel lock's cam and pin system to effect unlocking. The steel transfer block's cam pin is 5 mm wide and 2 mm deep. The entire hammer unit mechanism can be removed from the Px4, without the use of special tools, as a single group. This allows easy access to the firing mechanism for cleaning. The Px4's design makes it impossible to assemble incorrectly from a field-stripped takedown.

Removable and interchangeable parts

The Px4 features an interchangeable, luminescent 3-dot sight system (coated in Super-LumiNova) for use in dark or low-light situations. With short exposure to any kind of light, the night sights' luminescence lasts up to 30 minutes. The weapon also incorporates a Picatinny rail under the muzzle to allow flashlights, laser sights, and other accessories to be attached. Beretta discontinued the luminescent 3-dot nights sights for the Px4 in 2010, replacing them with standard 3-dot sights.

The Px4 is available in four models:

Type C: So-called to be Single-action-only.
Type D: Double-action-only. Spurless hammer. No decocker. No safety.
Type F: Single and double-action. Decocker. Manual safety.
Type G: Single and double-action. Decocker. No manual safety.
