REVIEW: Beretta M92A1 (Blowback) Air Pistol

This full-auto replica air pistol provides the exact feel and operation as the 9mm firearm model. This includes draw stroke, thumb safety release, target acquisition, as well as fire drills, reloading drills, reloads with spare magazines, and even mock clearing drills. It also has the latest Beretta white-dot sights and a rounded trigger guard. At a range of 7 yards, firing the Beretta M92A1 air pistol with .177 Steel BBs, experienced handgun shooters can achieve a group of 12 shots measuring about 1.75 inches and a best five-shots around one-quarter inch. Set up an indoor or outdoor range for hours of shooting fun. Save money on ammo and maintain your firearm proficiency by shooting this replica Beretta M92A1 air pistol in your basement or backyard.

The double-single action trigger on this Beretta M92A1 .117 air pistol works identically to the cartridge-firing model, with the first round fired in double action and the slide cycling back after discharge to cock the hammer and chamber the next steel BB. You can also cock and de-cock the gun manually. This air pistol uses a Beretta-style magazine that contains both the BBs and CO2 capsule in one unit, for the most authentic handling when reloading. All current holsters for the Beretta 92FS also fit the Beretta M92A1 air pistol.

Features the Same Full Auto-Mode of the Rare Beretta Model 93R

The sleek curves and solid build of the Beretta M92A1 .117 air pistol work well with the full-metal construction and authentic feel of this gun. Not only does this gun provide realistic blowback action, but it also has a full auto mode that makes airgunning even more fun than before. The 18-shot magazine serves as the CO2 location to power the airgun.

The first time you squeeze the trigger you'll joyfully experience the excitement of firing this all-metal and accurate copy of this Beretta M92A1 in its BURST-FIRE MODE. The Beretta M92A1 air powered action pistol is a variation of the powder-burning Beretta combined with a unique feature only found in the rare and discontinued Beretta Model 93R, a select-fire handgun that was only produced for the Italian military and Italian law enforcement from 1979 to 1993. The burst-fire mechanism of the 93R counted shots. After three rounds in rapid succession, the trigger had to be pulled again, thus eliminating the tendency to empty a full magazine with one pull of the trigger. This same type of device is used in this Beretta M92A1 (Blowback) model. You'll find the selector tucked away on the right side of the receiver. It has a capacity of 18 steel BBs whereas the original 93R utilized a 20 round magazine.

5FUN FUN! This is the bb gun I always ...
By Erin McFadden
FUN FUN! This is the bb gun I always wanted when I was 16. Full auto selection, blow back, slide lock on last round. Field strips identical to the real one. Weight is similar to the real one. You can see through the mag well to the ejection port. Not much off from the real one. It is full metal along with the mag. The slide pull is heavy for a BB gun, pretty close to a .22lr. Most of the internals seem to me metal aside from a few bb specific parts. I'm using this as a trainer weapon for my kids. And then when they are not around, I'm going to blow through multiple mags on full auto, because doing it with a real firearm is too expensive. Even if you are a firearm guy, this air gun will earn your respect.

5All in all a very fun air pistol
By Amazon Customer
This gun far exceeded my expectations in both quality and craftsmanship. As close to its real steel centerfiring big brother as I've seen in a bb gun. Full Metal except for the plastic grips, this pistol nearly matches in weight and feel to the actual firearm. Take down is nearly identical to the 92f that this pistol can be field stripped for cleaning/maintenance. Fires in DA/SA and Full auto. This is NOT a toy. This is NOT airsoft.
Expect to go through plenty of co2 cartridges as in full auto mode will empty its 18 round mag in under 2 seconds. But will take another 5 mins to wipe the grin from your face. It's a blast to shoot.
Full Metal slide, barrel, guide rod and heavy guide rod spring, the Blowback on this pistol has a very real hard kick comparable to a .22 rim fire cartridge.
Full Metal and full size magazine holds 18 bbs and a 12g co2 cartridge making the grip a little wide for smaller hands. Front and rear sights are fixed and non adjustable. Accessory rail is perfect for tac light or laser.
All in all a very fun air pistol.

History behind the firearm that inspired the Beretta M92A1 Air Pistol

The Beretta 92 (also Beretta 96 and Beretta 98) is a series of semi-automatic pistols designed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. The model 92 was designed in 1972 and production of many variants in different calibers continues today. The United States Armed Forces replaced the M1911A1 .45 ACP pistol in 1985 with the M9, a military spec Beretta 92F. Carlo Beretta, Giuseppe Mazzetti and Vittorio Valle, all experienced firearms designers, contributed to the final design in 1975.

Design and Development

The Beretta 92's open slide design ensures smooth feeding and ejection of ammunition and allows easy clearing of obstructions. The hard-chromed barrel bore reduces barrel wear and protects it from corrosion. The falling locking block design provides good accuracy and operability with suppressors due to the in-line travel of the barrel. This is in contrast to the complex travel of Browning designed barrels. The magazine release button is reversible with simple field tools. Reversing the magazine release makes left-handed operation much easier.

Increasingly, it has become popular to reduce handgun weight and cost as well as increase corrosion resistance by using polymers. Starting around the year 2000, Beretta began replacing some parts with polymer and polymer coated metal. Polymer parts include the recoil spring guide rod which is now also fluted, magazine floor plate, magazine follower and the mainspring cap/lanyard loop. Polymer coated metal parts include the left side safety lever, trigger, and magazine release button.

This also spawned several variants of similar internal design. The Beretta 902 is a full-size variant of the 92-series with a redesigned slide and a redesigned aluminum frame with an internal recoil buffer, user changeable monogrips and an accessory rail.
