REVIEW: Beretta M84FS (Blowback) Air Pistol

This replica Beretta 84FS Blowback .177 BB CO2 Air Pistol offers shooters a balanced and comfortable gun for shooting during target practice. With full blowback action, it provides a realistic feel. The black, powder-coated metal finish on slide, frame and barrel is well executed and the black plastic grips are extremely similar to those of the Beretta Mod 84FS Cheetah firearm original. The Pietro Beretta name and serial number markings are almost identical to those carried by the firearm original. You will find that there's a "family feeling" between the 1934 and the Beretta 84. See Firearm History below.
The Beretta 84FS Blowback .177 BB air pistol has a 17-round drop-out magazine and a fixed front and rear sight so that shooters can zero-in on the target. It is powered by a CO2 capsule that is housed inside the grip. As a result, you can shoot steel BBs with a smooth single action. It has a 360 FPS velocity.

Outstanding!
By G. Wiz
This "little" pistol is really great. I put it next to my .380 M84 & the first noticable difference is the centerfire is highly polished blue. A little closer look shows the very trigger guards are very slightly different in shape. The CO2 version is very well built. The tolerances are very good & the action is sweet. I thought the CO2 "wrench" sticking out of the butt would detract, but, for as fussy as l am, l lost thought of it in a few seconds. I'll update ballistics soon as I get the opportunity to get it outside. BTW, the holster is a lot nicer than l expected.

It's a Beretta alright! And worth every penny!
By Amazing Customer
Initially I bought this for my wife who, after watching me spend hours shooting my other guns, decided she wanted one of her own. She really likes this one... too bad I'm claiming it for myself. Sorry honey.
The weapon is on the smaller side, but not so small it's uncomfortable. It's very light but is largely metal as far as I can tell. Only the grips seem to be plastic. Oddly, speaking of plastic, the magazine body is plastic with a cast aluminum top piece that makes it a weee bit awkward if you're trying to load it quickly but that's so insignificant.
It fires well, but does take a few clips to get familiar with the sighting. Once you get the feel for it this gun is quite accurate. All in all it's a really nice, solid, well made gun that can't be beaten for the price.

The gun is a very good copy of the real thing and shoots pretty good ...
By David W. Potter
The gun is a very good copy of the real thing and shoots pretty good also. The trigger pull is rather stiff. Sometimes it felt like I could break the trigger if I pulled any harder. I cut about 3/4 of an inch off the BB feeder spring in the magazine and that helped a lot. all in all it is a good gun.
History behind the firearm that inspired the Beretta 84 Air Pistol
The Beretta Cheetah (Series 81), introduced in 1976 was projected to replace the Beretta 1934 that was the pistol adopted by several corps of the Italian Army ("Carabinieri" and the "Guardia di Finanza") 1937. The series had to be the natural evolution of the 1934 to replace it but the Army asked to Beretta to have the same magazine capacity of the 1934 in order to avoid accidents. This single stack 8 round Beretta 85 became the pistol of the officials of the "Carabinieri" and "Guardia di Finanza". The rest of the Italian Army adopted the Beretta model 92.
Development
The Series-81 Cheetas deliver .380 (9mm short) and .32 ACP (7.65 mm) power in a medium frame package. Super-safe, reliable and easy to shoot, they are perfect for concealed carry or personal defense--for those shooters who are not ready to commit to a sub-compact such as the Nano or Pico. The Cheetah pistols feature an open slide design that increases the reliability of the firearm. The frame is made from an aluminum alloy that delivers the strength and durability of steel but with 65% less weight. The automatic firing pin block (FS models) prevents the gun from firing in case of inadvertent drops or strikes against hard surfaces. Features such as these, and the built-in reliability and quality, make the Cheetah a classic in the Beretta lineup.
Series-81 Cheetas
The Beretta Cheetah, also known by its original model name of "Series 81", was a line of compact blowback operated semi-automatic pistols designed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. They were introduced in 1976 and include models in .32 ACP (Models 81 and 82), .380 ACP (9 mm Short) (Models 83, 84, 85 and 86) and .22 LR (Models 87, 87 Target and 89). Beretta has discontinued the manufacture of certain models and versions, but Cheetah pistols in .22 LR, .32 ACP and .380 ACP are still being manufactured and sold.
84FS Cheeta
A double-action pistol, 13-round staggered magazine and frame-mounted manual safety with hammer decocking device. The Combat-style trigger guard provides support for a two-handed hold and offers an enlarged opening for easy access with gloves. The 84FS Cheetah features a corrosion-resistant anodized alloy frame with matte black finish and Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum steel barrel with hard chromed bore for longer life. A nickel-finished version is also available with plastic or wood grips.
